Product Placement

Crystal Clear Earrings ~ $7

No, I'm not talking about the weird placement of a diet-pepsi in that last movie you watched..

I'm talking about putting your products in various shops and boutiques in your local area.

Do you do it? Is it for you?

I seem to be right on track with the boutiques. In fact, it has been a much more optimistic selling venue for me, versus etsy. Now, don't get me wrong. I love etsy. I just can't seem to get things moving from my shop.

I have been told before that "...etsy is saturated with jewelry sellers." Well, I didn't think it was a super original idea to start making jewelry. But now that I do make jewelry...I love it... And I don't want to stop!

Nevertheless, I am thinking that face to face sales are in my range of sparkle, anyway. I like calling shops only to ooze with such friendliness and pizazz, that they can't help but want to see my work.

So, I have borrowed this quote, from my new blogging friend Sophie:

“A pessimist sees the difficulties in every opportunity. An optimist sees the opportunities in every difficulty”

I am trying to turn this difficulty into an opportunity...
Hmm.

Cheers to the good life (it's the one you
make good)!

My sister just started selling jewelry on Etsy. She's been selling for years on eBay and decided to try Etsy because it was cheaper. She is not doing well and she said there are others with similar products who really undersell her. She said she doesn't understand how they can sell at the price they have and make it worth their time.

The boutiques are a good idea. I'm going to start selling baby items in a couple months and was planning on opening an Etsy shop. I may have to look into the boutique idea as well.

I think it's a GREAT idea to consider boutiques! And with your personality, they're sure to want your product. :)

Debbie,

Thanks for visiting. Best of luck with your new creative venture! That is so exciting!

Beki,
Thanks. I know you have had parties before. (At least I think I remember reading about them at your blog...)
I might talk to you about that some time, too!

truly,

Sylvia C.

Sylvia, you are very sweet giving me a mention! I love that quote (I actually first discovered it on an advertisment poster for beer in a pub!) but it fits in with so much in life and its such a good mind set to have.
I can definately see the fustrations with etsy, although I dont actually have a shop there, with so many people making jewlry too it's hard to stand out. But face-to-face selling can give you that edge and will probably be more rewarding for you as well.
I wish you much luck, keep us informed with how it all goes!

Sophie,
How funny, we are living our life according to the ideals of a beer pub!
;)

Hope you have had a great weekend!

LauraB,

I'd love to be added to your other blog.
I'll add your other blog on mine, too!

I do miss hearing about your aw journey!

I am getting ready for a 10 day trip to Germany, and I am thinking of taking "walking in this world" with me, to explore while in Europe (it sounds fabulous, right?!).

best,

Sylvia C.

Sylvia,

I believe we ran into one another in an etsy chat room and I am fairly certain that I hearted your shop - from one Etsy jeweler to another - I understand how hard it can be to stand out, but if you keep at it, I think you HAVE to stand out. Never give up! I also started to visit local boutiques and I've started to have a decent turnout. Best of luck with it!
